In one of the biggest NFL moves before this years draft, Aaron Rodgers, who wasn’t feeling the love in Green Bay any more, forced his way to the New York Jets. Prior to that move, Rodgers leveraged the Jets desperation to win by hand picking the Jets offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett, his old buddy, and then gave the Jets a list of his buddies that he wanted on the team, with only 47-year-old Marcedes Lewis not being offered a contract.
Rodgers has been chomping at the bit to retire for the last several years, but he wants a second Super Bowl trophy before he goes, to prove that he’s one of the G.O.A.T’s at the QB position. It was clear that Green Bay was sick of his ridiculous behavior over the last two years and they weren’t doing anything else to coddle him (hence the F.U. draft of the Packers choosing high end pass catchers after Aaron was gone).
Here’s the deal: Aaron Rodgers wants to do the Tom Brady. In his mind Green Bay disrespected him and he wants to prove to the world, by winning a championship elsewhere, that he was the only reason for all their winning over the last thirteen years. In New York, Rodgers now has a supporting cast and he is going to ball out trying to drag them to the Super Bowl.
Also, here’s a bonus tip: Draft Garrett Wilson. Remember how lost Rodgers was last year? Remember how he complained about the rookie WR’s not running good enough routes? Last year was his first in years without his security blanket, Davante Adams. Garrett Wilson is worthy of being that high volume, touchdown magnet that Rodgers likes.
Right now his ADP in 1 QB mock drafts is right in the backup range. We all know that on a good day he can have QB1 type games. He is also playing in the AFC East against the Bills and Dolphins, so he’ll have to put up points to keep up with them. I’m drafting Rodgers as my QB2 in several leagues and I suggest that you do the same.
