RB Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears: My prediction is that he will break out in the second half of the 2023 season. Many NFL experts have said that if Roschon had played in college almost anywhere else he would have been a starter and drafted earlier than the fourth round.
He’s 6 foot tall and around 220 lbs. He is a load and can blow through the line as well as pass protect. He’s got decent speed at 4.58 for the 40. He’s not a fumbler and he’s durable. The coaches are going to love him. In the 2021 Kansas game, when Bijan was out, Roschon filled in with 31 carries for 178 yards! He also averaged 7.5 yards per catch in fours years, but averaged 9.1 per catch in his senior year.
You’re saying, but what about D’onta Foreman and Khalil Herbert? Herbert was the darling of the previous coaching staff and Foreman is a Herbert clone brought in to back up Khalil. New HC Matt Eberflus was part of the decision to take Roschon and he will want him to succeed.
Roschon Johnson is pissed. He has a chip on his shoulder the size of a Mack truck which is what he’s like coming through the line. He hasn’t said that, but how would you feel living in someone’s shadow for three years when you’re good enough to start for most other universities. Do you think he’s intimidated by the task of competing with Khalil Herbert and D’onta Forman? Don’t underestimate the power of being pissed off at playing second fiddle the last three years. I predict that Roschon will own the majority of the Bears RB snaps by the Oct. 15 Vikings game.
